Unit 8 - Paper Notes - Lyrics
Paper Notes is listed as the third track in my ordering of the final EP. It was written before our Llwyn Y Bryn bunkhouse gig in February as we needed more original songs to fit our set time. It’s a very short song which I originally didn’t really like and saw as more of a filler song. However, the more we’ve begun practicing the track as a band and the tighter our sound has gotten, the more I find myself enjoying performing it. I wrote the lyrics very early on into the creation of the song and they came very naturally. You can see rather clearly, especially from the chorus, that this song is about a secret relationship. The people in focus in the song are slipping paper love notes to each other in secretive ways and only meet up in private (waiting outside by your back door). This is evidently causing a lot of strain on their relationship and is beginning to affect them rather negatively but they both know that neither of them will gather up the courage to leave.
