 Unit 8 - Week 12

At this point, we’re almost done with our final projects, with just two weeks left. On Monday, we had studio time booked in the afternoon so we could fix the drum timing issues with I Get It. However, our drummer didn’t end up showing up, as inconvenient as this was, we knew we wouldn’t have time to record another time as the studio was fully booked. This meant we would have to find another way to resolve this problem so Amber, Ed and I sat around the computer in the studio and took little parts of Jack’s previous drum recording and edited them in in small amounts to cover up the timing issue. This was slightly time consuming but worked as a great alternative to an actual re-recording and I’m quite proud of how we went about solving this problem. Tuesday we were in the downstairs studio all day long. We booked this time in to record vocals for Drowning In Flames as one of our final steps in recording everything for the EP. I believe it was very successful as I got to portray the style and sound I desired. The only thing I regret was how I sounded on each chorus. Listening back to it all, I think I could’ve made the sound a bit punchier for a better effect but there’s not much I can do now except make up for it in mixing. After finishing off vocals, we then recorded some bass with Morgan using the rest of the time and then spent most of this week attempting to get everything in order. We began finalising our band album cover which included each band members silhouette being edited and coloured in to be added to a black and white background. I’m really happy with how it turned out and it incorporates a lot of the things I desired since the beginning. When friday came around, we were once again in the studio to polish everything off. This was our chance to go over and re-do anything we weren’t feeling one hundred percent sure of so I took this opportunity to redo my vocals on the choruses of Drowning In flames. It had been bothering me all week that they hadn’t turned out the way I had intended so I was very relieved I had a chance to fix them. We also finished off all we needed to with the drums and are officially done with recording!
