Unit 8 - One Day - Lyrics
One Day was a very interesting song to write. It was created after christmas when we decided as a band that we wanted to try creating a song a little different. Up until then, we found our issue to be that all our songs sounded a bit similar so we wanted to create something slightly more unique whilst still maintaining what had become our recognisable electronic sound. This song is easily one of my favourites and it has been since it was first written. I especially love the quiet chorus towards the end as we don’t usually write content that’s that peaceful yet effective. The lyrics for this song are quite simple and about unrequited love where the other person is aware but does not return the feelings yet the ‘singer’ cannot stop loving them anyway (only a fool would beg, for your last name). I went for a rather simple chorus that was repetitive and rhymed at the end of each line to ensure it was catchy and easily stayed stuck in your head so it was memorable. Towards the end of the song, after the guitar solo, is my favourite part. All the instruments mellow out and the drums stop whilst I sing the same chorus I have throughout but in a softer tone than before, this then builds with the drums back into a repeat of the chorus for a final, louder time.
