Unit 8 - Week 3
At this point, I still wasn’t feeling very well at all so I once again didn’t attend for Monday. Luckily, Amber and Ed were in and had quite a productive day! Today they tried something new which we had been discussing which was recording guitar directly into Logic, through the computer. From what I’ve been informed, this worked pretty well and we now have the guitar parts ready for Paper Notes! This is a new technique that I’m sure we’ll make use of again in case the studio is busy or we want some more variety. By Friday we had been in the studio and started also recording vocals for I Get It. We started the session in the studio off with Amber recording the guitar part to I Get It however we soon ran into some issues. Amber was struggling slightly to keep timing throughout the song and know where to change her guitar parts. So after a couple different takes, I decided to step in quickly and record demo vocals for the song. These vocals are only temporary as my throat is still very bad and I can’t quite achieve the vocal effects I want. These demo vocals were recorded to help my band mates with their own recordings! My lyrics and vocals will help each member be aware of where they are in the song and ensure we can get all the timings right. I got to set up the mic myself today and even tried out another microphone to hear the difference. I eventually opted for the mic pictured below as it had the clearest result that I think suited my tone. Once these were recorded, Amber tried her guitar parts again and got them right very quickly afterward. Overall, this has been a highly successful week and I’m super pleased with what we’ve gotten done. It’s also great to see how we did even after running into issues in the studio and I’m glad we managed to overcome these problems as a band.
