Unit 1 - Hound dog Performance.
In the video linked below is my very first performance in college. This song I performed vocals for was 'Hound Dog' by Elvis Presley.
Evaluation
One part of the day I thought went well was how we all managed to learn and play together a song we hadn’t previously known. I knew this would be a big challenge as I'd never tried something like this before in college and we also had challenge of trying to make the song
our own unique style. I liked how we could listen to each other to successfully maintain our timing, which I think then became our strong suit as we then had little problem listening and following each other.
On the other hand, I believe I was singing slightly off key in the performance. This is due to my nerves I think so it's definitely something I need to work on should I want to continue
being a performer. I also noticed the performance felt a little awkward and I looked rather
awkward. This is likely because we didn’t know each other very well so I’d enjoy being in a band where I know everyone and feel comfortable around them.
If I could perform this track again, I think I would firstly practice a bit more beforehand as I was still feeling a bit unsure. I would also try to listen to the track right before I sang to
ensure I knew exactly what key I was in. Finally, I would try to be more confident rather
than closing in on myself so I could give my best performance vocally possible.
