(Unit 9) Mastering

 Blind - Mastering

Before I knew it, the deadline was approaching and I had to get the full mixes plus mastering done so I quickly watched some videos on how to master and also read about it online. Here are some of the videos:

First of all, I listened to the loudest part of the song (the final chorus) and individually moved each of the tracks audios down until there was no peaking. Next I adjusted each of my bus tracks to balance them together. I then went in with my EQ and cut the tiniest bit of the low end to remove any peaks even if I may not hear them. This is a tip I saw online which I decided to try. I then added in the slightest bit of compression to 'glue' the mix together. Finally, I experimented with using a stereo spread on my vocals. I wasn't sure how this was gling to go but throughout mixing this song, I felt the vocals had continuously been lacking any warmth so I attempted to use the stereo spread to give them a more organic, warm sound. This is essentially all I did as I haven't really attempted mastering that much before so it's definitely a place for improvement.
