Unit 8 - Week 11
Every Wednesday evening, my band and I attend a thing called ‘Future Blood’. It’s a free to attend program for young people that provides you with rehearsal spaces and times. It’s run by Steve Bálsamo and Rich Thair and this week, Rich contacted me about a gig opportunity. So I checked with all my band mates if this would be something they’re interested in and they all agreed it would. So I got back to Rich and have been filling him in on everything he’s been asking. I’m very excited yet nervous for this gig as it’ll be our first outdoor performance which is very different to regular gigs. Not only does it have a less ‘controlled’ sound but anyone walking by can stop to listen which I find to be a bit of a scary concept. I suppose this experience will be a great way to build my confidence even more and my stage presence so I can only hope it goes well. Aside from this, I also sent an email to Beans, my second year in college, containing the images of our band logo. This is so he could get them ready for advertisement for us as a support act at the bunkhouse end of year Llwyn Y Bryn gig. On thursday we once again had rehearsal which we used to perfect Drowning In Flames. I added in my final lyrics and tried singing with a slighter harsher, louder sound to suit the song. Once we rehearsed that sufficiently, we took a break and just had a casual jam session as we haven’t done something like this for awhile. I sang random lyrics and we experimented with different genres. Here I have a video where I sat back and recorded an instrumental of one of these jams which I think could potentially make a good song in the future. As of friday, we were once again in the studio in the afternoon, as we regularly seem to be. This was one of our final opportunities to get all our drum recordings done as were rapidly approaching the deadline now and need to begin mixing. Here I took a moment to take a photo of us all in the studio setting everything up. By the end of today, I’m pretty sure we’ve got almost all the drums for every song done. The only thing left is small sections of I Get It due to timing but I’m not stressed about this as I believe we’ll be able to fix it on Monday next week.
